FAQs

  • Granite is a natural stone quarried, cut into slabs and usually finished in a polished finish.
Quartz is made up of 93% natural quartz with 7% man-made resin, presenting the veining and colour.

  • Porcelain is one of the most durable materials you can put on a working surface. With its extreme heat resistance, it’s 0% porosity level and it’s high scratch resistance, it will take the demands of any household.

  • Quartz is the most-cost effective material you can use as a worktop in a kitchen. Quartz has a non-porous surface making it highly resistant to staining, it is quite a tough material and is very unlikely to be affected by chipping or scratching. Whilst quartz is a heat-resistant material, it can be susceptible to extreme heats from hot pots & pans.

  • At Sullivan & Lambe we stock Mason Quartz & a host of Italian & Spanish porcelain brands, from Level Marmi to Inalco’s MDi and many more. Along with these main brands of ours, we also supply Caesarstone’s quartz & porcelain, Silestone & Dekton.

  • Yes, we supply our quartz & porcelain materials to both
kitchen & furniture companies as well as direct to the public.

  • There is no difference between, the 3 ranges in terms of quality or durability, the only difference is the amount of manufacturing time to effectively create the level of detail in each stone.

Types of Stone

  • Whilst every project is unique and may depend on the complexity of the project at hand, our general lead times are two weeks from your booking being placed to your templating date, then approximately there will be 5-7 working days for quartz & 10-14 working days for porcelain until installation.

  • Generally, we can template directly on top of the existing worktops, in rare occasions we may need the existing worktops to be removed. Whilst saying this, we do recommend for the most accurate of a finish, that the existing worktops are removed prior to templating. Please note, it is imperative that when we return to fit the worktop, the existing worktop is removed with the hob, sink & taps disconnected.

  • A template is an exact measurements of the required worktop, this measurement is completed by taking a digital drawing of the kitchen taken by identifying points of the kitchen. This precise drawing is used in manufacturing to ensure an accurate & clean fitting & finish.

  • All cabinetry and units must be in their final resting position prior to templating as any moving of cabinetry or units will result in our teams being unable to fit the worktop as originally intended.

  • Prior to templating you will need to ensure that all kitchen cabinets are level, have sufficient wall support to prevent any movement of the kitchen units between template & fit. We will also require that you have your sink, tap & hob, along with a decision maker on site when our templator is measuring your kitchen.

  • Yes, you will need to be on-site to confirm cut-out positions, overhangs, & joint positions, along with any further questions that may need to be answered to ensure a worktop finished to the highest quality. The same follows for fitting, we will need you to be on-site to confirm that you are happy with your finished project.
